Here at Belmonte you can enjoy a fantastic horse riding holiday, with stables right on your doorstep! Just a 5 minute walk from your apartment you can be at our horse riding stables, ‘La Fiaba’ where you can enjoy lessons and trail rides. Whatever your age or experience the horse riding stables at Belmonte has something for you….
Children’s horse riding programmes
Our staff (and ponies!) have years of experience teaching children to ride. We can provide lessons in our sand arena for children over 5 years of all abilities, from beginner to advanced. We can make lessons on the lunge to improve posture and balance, dressage lessons to improve your overall riding, jumping lessons and pony games too! For young, beginner children we also make short pony rides to give them a ‘taste’ of being on a horse without the pressure of a formal lesson. Please note that parents are required to accompany (on foot!) all young children on pony rides, this is for their safety.
For children 8 – 14 years who can ride (at least trot without any help) we can also make fun trail rides of up to 2 hours. Children 14 years and over can even make half day trail rides or, if accommpanied by a competant adult over 18 years of age, full day rides.
Pony campsDuring the summer we also make pony camps for children who just love horses and want to spend all week riding, playing pony games, making new friends and winning rosettes! Please see our ‘Pony Camps’ page for more information. |

Adult lessonsWe offer private lessons for riders of all abilities and group lessons or semi private lessons for riders with some experience (at least able to control their horse in walk without help). Lessons can be dressage or jumping and our instructors teach you according to the ‘classical’ principles of riding. Private lessons can also be made on the lunge, this is perfect for beginners but is also useful for experienced riders to improve their posture, balance and effectiveness. |
Trail Rides
What better way to explore the Tuscan countryside but on horseback? We offer trail rides from one hour up to a full day, so there is a Tuscan trail ride for everybody at Belmonte! Trail rides of half day or more are available for intermediate riders and over. Beginner riders who would like to make a trail ride are invited to make a lesson to learn the basics before heading out on a short trail (maximum 2 hours). Please note that an ‘assessment lesson’ is mandatory before any trail ride if you have never ridden with us before, and is inlcuded in the time alloted and the price.

Make a full day ride across the open and unrestricted Tuscan countryside, enjoy a breathtaking canter through the olive groves, stop for a delicious picnic made with local, organic products, arriving home just in time to enjoy the view as the sun sets behind the Belmonte apartments. These holidays are suitable for intermediate riders aged 14 years and over. The horse riding holidays can be booked self catering or half board.
